‘BLK BOY’ is a short conceptual visual created by Donnie Sunshine and Jazz Brown as a response to the tragic yet ever so familiar disregard for black lives. The narrative follows a stylized depiction of the murders of Ahmaud Albery and George Floyd, followed by actions taken by their community through protest which is juxtaposed with a Black Panther member preparing to march. The latter part of the visual shows varied representations of black boys/men showing that we are multifaceted. The film is closed with a memorial of images and names of victims taken through police brutality, white supremacy, homophobia, trans-phobia, bigotry and abuse, with inserts of Martin Luther King Jr’s ‘I have a dream’ speech as well as a speech of him addressing police brutality playing in the background…
